BestFive Rating Methodology Explained

BestFive Rating Methodology Explained
BestFive has developed a proprietary algorithm that uses publicly available data points to measure the reputation, trustworthiness and credibility of each of the local businesses rated. We use this algorithm to calculate the BestFive Rating, assessing whether a local business is recommendable compared to other local providers and to what level.

Businesses cannot pay to be listed on our site. BestFive Ratings rely solely on factors that have an influence on how recommendable a local business is, therefore, they cannot be purchased. There is a variety of factors we use to measure and calculate the BestFive Rating, the most important being:

1.    Third-Party Reviews: The reviews on well-reputed review sites like Yell and FreeIndex provide us with a good insight into how customers feel about a specific local business in the UK. Among the factors we take into account, the following are the most important:

•    Star Rating: We consider the overall star rating of the businesses across different  review sites on a scale from 1 to 5.

•    Source Authority: Reviews on more well-known sites hold more weight than smaller and lesser-known sites.

2.    Presence on Vetting Platforms: The local businesses’ presence on vetting platforms such as Buy With Confidence and Which? Trusted Traders shows that they are operating in a legal, transparent and fair way. This factor is a good sign for the businesses’ reputation and professionalism.
